Impressive sales growth for M2M cloud platform company showcases commitment to innovation and validates the value of connected products

FOXBORO, Mass., Sept. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Axeda Corporation announced today that it was named to the 2012 Inc. 5000 list for the third consecutive year. The list is an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies, and represents a comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy – America’s independent entrepreneurs.  Axeda was recognized for posting significant three-year sales growth from 2008-2011. The company joins Yelp, Chobani,, and KIND among other prominent brands featured on this year’s list.

“Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500/5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs, and drive the economy forward.  Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is,” says Inc. Editor Eric Schurenberg.

In a stagnant economic environment, median growth rate of 2012 Inc. 500|5000 companies remains an impressive 97 percent. The companies on this year’s list report having created over 400,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $299 billion.

Founded in 2000, Axeda is the leading cloud-based service and software for managing connected products and implementing innovative machine-to-machine (M2M) applications. Its success has been driven by continued innovations that have made Axeda’s award-winning technology the choice for more than 150 of the world’s leading enterprises.

“Axeda’s mission is to enable companies to easily access machine data and use it to drive enterprise-wide intelligence and innovation,” said Jack Sweeney, CEO, Axeda. “Our cloud-based M2M application enablement platform is built to manage hundreds of millions of interactions between products, people, and businesses on a daily basis.”

Axeda offers technology and services for connecting to remote devices and assets, managing connected products, integrating machine data with enterprise systems, and developing M2M applications. The Axeda platform is uniquely qualified to handle the complex requirements for M2M solutions, such as managing multiple types of connections and assets, processing massive amounts of unstructured data, and providing enterprise grade scalability and security.

The 2012 Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2008 to 2011. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2008. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2011. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2008 is $100,000; the minimum for 2011 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Companies on the Inc. 500 are featured in Inc.’s September issue. They represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at
