Jaguar Land Rover joins with BlackBerry, Denso and RealVNC to develop the latest generation of integrated mobile phone and in-vehicle infotainment systems.
The level of integration possible between a car and a Smartphone has been taken a step further at the BlackBerry World conference with the unveiling of an innovative new system that projects the display of a Smartphone onto the central touch screen of a vehicle. The system only allows approved apps to be displayed and controlled but can utilize data from the vehicle systems.
Demonstrated on a Jaguar XJ linked to a Blackberry device at the BlackBerry World conference, the system, called ‘Connect and View’, adds to the usual making and receiving of calls via a mobile phone with functionality that allows applications, music and navigation systems operating through the phone to be replicated on the large, central touch screen display fitted to the XJ. This has the benefits of ease of use, greater functionality and embraces the users personalized Smartphone.
A Jaguar XJ will be the first car to demonstrate ‘Connect and View™’ at the BlackBerry World Conference.
The ‘Connect and View’ RealVNC software system will be available in both Jaguar and Land Rover products from late 2012.
